In Srimad Bhagavatam sage Markandeya after intense tapasya wishes to know Maya. He attains the vision of maya through the illusion of a great deluge and during the deluge Lord Vishnu appears in the form of a divine child floating on a banyan leaf and saves him. This divine infants is "Balamukunda". Mukunda is the one who gives Mukti (Liberation)!
*BalaMukundashtakam is not part of Bhagavat puranam. The first stanza of this hymn occurs in Sri Krishna Karnamrutha authored by Leela Shuka.
