Listen to the Universe

Listen to the Universe

Navaratri - day four :)

On most Sunday evenings I prepare for the upcoming, super busy Monday. My experience yesterday was different; it was beautiful. We drove-out in the golden sunlight to a nearby hill, which has a small but lovely waterfall. After settling down on nearby rocks around the gurgling cascade, we touched the water, it was so cool.

My mother put her feet in the stream, she looked happy, rooted in nature… It was finally time to satisfy my wish of playing the Kalimba by a water body, nostalgic right? (Kalimba is an African hand piano that makes lovely sounds from its metal reeds).

The evening sun, cool water, mystical grove and some music, it all felt so perfect. I played every melody I could think of that suited the ambience, it was lovely - the whole experience. Every instrument sounds so much better in the open, I felt.

After a point, I stopped playing and in that silence I realised that the whole place was vibrating with its own divine sounds. The rustling leaves, hard rocks making the soft fluid water gurgle, insects ceaselessly rumbling like a drone, the wind dancing between trees. These spellbinding vibrations spread all over me as I could hear them only when I became silent. I took a few more minutes and relished that experience.

Isn’t this what happens to most of us in life, sometimes we just forget to listen. We forget to listen to what the Universe is saying or we ignore its signs or worse we refuse to be part of its rhythm. If once we could just be with the Universe without saying or doing anything, just listening and existing, maybe then we could hear it talk back?

If we imagine every event in our lives to be an orchestra, then the music would be perfectly harmonious only if everyone including us played precisely what was our part. Here, I was witnessing a great performance and I found it ideal to just be the audience.

In life, no matter what event we are in, becoming silent and hearing the Universe at least once, is totally worth it. It is magical to hear it speak, converse without words, talk without language, communicate without bias, just the pure intention - conveyed!
